About Dr. Mit Shah
Dr. Mit Shah grew up in Chicago and attended college at the University of Illinois in Chicago where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. From there, he went to the Ohio State University College of Medicine where he received his medical degree. He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency and was elected the chief resident in his program at Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Shah’s journey to a career in medicine started when he was young. He joined a combined BA/MD program right out of high school. Once in medical school, he was drawn to urology as a specialty. He enjoyed the challenge of working with sensitive patient problems and making the patient feel comfortable addressing them. Most importantly, he was motivated by patient results where short surgical procedures could make a world of difference in the life of a patient. Often these procedures restore a patient’s lifestyle and give them their life back.
He believes in a patient-centered approach to medical decision making. He spends time with each patient to give them all the information on their condition and the treatment options available to them.
He likes to make the information easy to digest and understand, and will make recommendations for treatment, however, the individual care plan is ultimately designed around each patient’s unique lifestyle and their goals.

During his residency, he was focused on research around survivorship following prostate cancer and is experienced in assessing and treating the issues that sometimes arise following treatment for prostate cancer such as erectile dysfunction or incontinence.
When Dr. Shah is not at work, he enjoys spending his time with his fiancé and their two dogs. He likes to play golf and pick-up basketball. He also likes music and enjoys attending concerts and playing his guitar. He is excited to be in Colorado where he can more easily enjoy the great outdoors and spend time skiing, hiking, and backpacking around the 14ers.
